FINAL COLLECTION - COMING SOON!

The inspiration for my final collection was the Wes Anderson film, Moonrise Kingdom. I loved the strong aesthetic of the film and the colours used as well as the 1960s clothing and scout uniforms. The individuality of the collection lies in the use of long stitch embroidery covering large areas of selected garments, graphic check prints designed by myself and the collection of badges and buttons which appear cluttered on garments. The over-styling theme which appears in the collection reflects both the film and my personal quirky style and the use of knitwear pieces adds another level of texture. The predominant use of landscapes that I have edited using photoshop to appear throughout the collection represents the important of particular locations and events in the film.

The silhouettes are reminiscent of Mary Quants work during the 1960s and the child-like silhouettes worn by the main character, Suzy in the film. The appearance of short skirts, babydoll dresses, trapeze-shaped coats peter pan collars and shift dresses create this style and there are elements of the scout uniforms in details and fabrics. I enjoyed pieces together each aspect and detail from each character of the film and playing to the role of the quirky, bold and 'girly' style adopted by Suzy, with the edge that her personality creates.
